Radiography Testing for Internal Inspection

What Is It

Seeing Inside With X-Ray & Gamma Radiography

Radiography Testing (RT) uses X-rays or gamma rays to create an image of the internal condition of a component. Different materials and thicknesses absorb radiation differently-this variation creates an image that can reveal internal defects such as cracks, porosity, inclusions and lack of fusion.

IRC provides both X-Ray and Gamma Radiography services, including specialised radiography solutions for shutdown and erection activities.

Our services support applications including:

  • Weld Inspection
  • Piping Systems
  • Pressure Vessels
  • Storage Tanks
  • Fabricated Components

Why Radiography

Why Choose Radiography Testing?

Internal Visibility

Identify hidden defects that cannot be seen from the surface.

Detailed Imaging

Produce clear radiographic images for evaluation.

Proven Technology

A widely established method for weld and component inspection.

Multiple Sources

X-Ray and Gamma sources can be selected based on inspection requirements.

How It Works

Our Radiography Testing Method

01

Inspection Preparation

The component and inspection area are prepared according to the required procedure.

02

Source Positioning

The X-Ray machine or radioactive source is positioned appropriately.

03

Radiation Exposure

Radiation passes through the component and is captured on the detector or film.

04

Image Evaluation

The resulting image is examined for indications of internal discontinuities.

05

Reporting

Results are documented and reported by qualified inspection personnel.

Radiography sources available include X-Ray, Iridium-192 (Ir-192), Cobalt-60 (Co-60) and Selenium-75 (Se-75).

Our Toolkit
